♦ Red Fort

The Red Fort complex was built as the palace fort of Shahjahanabad – the new capital of Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal emperor of India. Named for its massive walls of red sandstone, it is adjacent to Salimgarh, an older fort built by Islam Shah Suri in 1546, with which it forms the Red Fort Complex.

* Entry fee of Red Fort for Indian citizens is Rs.35 per person while for foreign tourists it is Rs.500 per person.

* One of the major tourist attractions at the Red Fort is the light and sound show that narrates the Mughal history. Visiting Timings: 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

♦ Lotus Temple

The Lotus Temple is thus not dedicated to any particular God or idol. Instead, it is a place of worship for all religions and upholds the teachings of the Bahai prophet Baha’u’llah.

It is known for its beautiful flower-like architecture and marvelous ambiance that make it a popular tourist attraction for people of all faiths. The Bahai Lotus Temple is one of the world’s most beautiful religious buildings and a must-visit when in Delhi.

* There is no entry fee for Lotus Temple. 

* Lotus Temple Timings are from 9 AM to 7 PM in summer season. During winter visiting timings are from 9 AM to 5:30 PM. 

♦ India Gate

India Gate War Memorial was built as a work of the IWCG (Imperial War Graves). IWCG was created to build war memorials and graves for the soldiers who were killed during World War I. The foundation of this war memorial was placed in the year 1921 by the visiting Duke of Connaught. It took around 10 years for the construction of Dilli India Gate.

Although India gate boating timings are from 9 AM to 9 PM, boating at India Gate is especially popular in evenings when the weather is comparatively cooler. And No Entry fees includes.

♦ Akshardham Temple

Akshardham’ means the divine abode of God. It is hailed as an eternal place of devotion, purity and peace. Swaminarayan Akshardham at New Delhi is a Mandir – an abode of God, a Hindu house of worship, and a spiritual and cultural campus dedicated to devotion, learning and harmony. Timeless Hindu spiritual messages, vibrant devotional traditions and ancient architecture all are echoed in its art and architecture.The mandir is a humble tribute to Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781- 1830), the avatars, devas and great sages of Hinduism. The traditionally-styled complex was inaugurated on 6 November 2005 with the blessings of HH Pramukh Swami Maharaj and through the devoted efforts of skilled artisans and volunteers.
